What is Pop Up Patch?

The Fed Square Pop up Patch is a subscriber based edible gardening club allowing and encouraging you to farm your very own produce smack bang in the city. Subscribers will have their very own little veggie crate prepared by the Little Veggie Patch Co, filled using their special no-dig garden recipe; the perfect infrastructure for growing great produce.

For the price of a coffee a day, crates are yours for 12 months to come and go from as you please, growing herbs, lettuces, giant zucchinis, jack’s bean stalk, in fact whatever it is that gets your tummy grumbling.

Not only that, but we will be here to help you along the way (see We are here to help).

So stroll down before work, tumble down after, hell, come and get your fingernails dirty during lunchtime; the garden is manned during most hours of the day and as subscribers you are able to get special access to suit your demand.

Remember there is nothing stopping you sharing a patch with friends, family,  a club, your work colleagues, maybe even your worst enemy as an attempt to heal open wounds; what you do with your patch is up to you and we will encourage it.

The Cost…

$3.50 a day, or $25 a week, or…

Payments

$220 upfront (covers first and last month)

$108 per month (for a 12 month period)
Note* The closure of pop up patch will be given 3 months in advance to give all subscribers opportunity to sow and reap a final crop

When can I get my hands dirty?

Edible gardening is seasonal and in fact so are we. Pop up patch opening hours are designed to listen to the lifestylist in you and what you will be demanding, come the season.

Staffed Operating Hours

9am-5pm (7 days a week)

However just because we can’t always be around to help, that doesn’t mean you can’t come and go more extensively. The onus is then on you to ensure the gate is closed behind you and that you respect your growing neighbours and their own efforts.

Subscriber Hours

6am -10pm (7 days a week)

We are here to help

More than just an opportunity to grow produce, it is a chance to learn along the way. LVPC team members will be available 7 days a week, 8 hours a day to share their knowledge and lend a helping hand. Think of us as your private tutors, on call, when needed.  And don’t worry if you’re the quiet gardening type and just like to get on with your business, we know how to make ourselves invisible when need be.

You are here to have a good time…and grow great produce

The Fed Square Pop up Patch is a place to share the beginnings, and maybe ends, of your food experience; from the dirt to the seed, seedling to plant, and then perhaps the produce on your plate. It’s not exclusive, there’s no door policy and no qualification is required to feel a part of it. We only ask you bring a good attitude and enthusiasm for growing and eating locally grown, fresh produce.

Security and your beloved veggie friends

If there’s one thing we take seriously, it’s the welfare of your veggies. We can’t put words to the heartache felt when a long-nurtured plant is slain or goes missing, and as such we have taken every possible measure to secure the venue. The Fed Square Pop up Patch will always be manned during opening hours, is locked to everyone (bar you) the other hours and has  CCTV cameras in the vicinity.

No chemicals please

Growing food when resources are available is not a difficult thing (if it was we’d all be very hungry), so no pesticides, herbicides or fungicides are allowed in pop up patch. Organic growing is what we abide by, and what we’ll help you achieve.

Pop Up Patch is located on top of the Car Park, enter from Russel St.
